“Whoever keeps God’s word, in him truly love for God is perfected. By this we may be sure that we are in him: he who says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.”
1 John 2:5-6
Have you ever described a person as “being into something”, be it into music, into sports, or into someone you want to marry and be with for the rest of your life? It means they are completely consumed by that something or someone, it takes up all their attention.
The Lord Jesus invites his disciples to “be into him” or, as the Bible says, to “abide in him,” – It describes an intimate connection that is so deep that you somehow can’t tell where one person ends and the other begins – they are truly one.
Abiding in Him requires genuine identification, doing things the way Jesus would. Do you remember those WWJD (What would Jesus do) bracelets?
In other words, the true test of whether we are into something is not how much we talk about it, but whether we truly cherish or love it. If we love the Lord Jesus, then we want to please him, do what he commands, and respect his wishes. Can others around you tell you are into him by the way you live your life?
