God Opens Doors for Evangelism

In his letter to the Colossians, Paul the Apostle writes,

“Pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ.”

Colossians 4:3

Paul the Apostle exhorts the Christian community at Colossae to pray for the Church’s mission and for evangelism. Our zeal for evangelism starts with our initiative – such as meeting up with others at a coffee stall, BBQ cookout, bible study group, etc., but our attention should also be rooted in God and what he is doing in the circumstances around us.

God opens a door when we pray. When we speak, He gives meaning to our words, through the Holy Spirit, to reveal the mystery of Christ to others.

No matter how hard we toil, expecting miracles to happen with our friends, family members and acquaintances, we must remember that only God makes things grow spiritually.

We turn to Him, relying on His grace to bring fruit to all of our efforts. Interceding for our mission’s needs and challenges gives us power and boldness before it affects anyone else.

Pray this prayer today:

“Lord, open the minds and heart of those I will meet today. Allow them to receive your Word through me.”
