By His Wounds
We Are Healed
-
Isaiah 53:5-6
and 1 Peter
2:24
Introduction
Times of stress,
adversity, loss, and isolation can make us
anxious, fearful, and self-absorbed - or it can
refocus our attention on Christ and his kingdom
of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy
Spirit. Let us not forget the exhortation which
Scripture gives us -
"look to Jesus, the pioneer and
perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that
was set before him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and is seated at the
right hand of the throne of God" (Hebrews
12:2).
As we
contemplate the victory Christ has won for us in
his cross and resurrection, let us look to him,
our great High Priest and Shepherd, who
intercedes for us at his Father's right hand.
We are never alone because Christ lives in us
through the power of the Holy Spirit who raised
him from the dead. We are members of Christ's
Body both here on earth and in heaven. Nothing
can separate us from the love of Christ Jesus
who has triumphed over sin, Satan, and death.
The Lord wants to shake from us everything that
would distract or pull us away from him and his
will for our lives. He wants to equip us for
battle and mission and for a harvest which he is
preparing. Let us shake off complacency, fear,
and worldliness, and arm ourselves with the
shield of faith, the breastplate of
righteousness, the helmet of salvation, and the
Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God,
and pray at all times in the Spirit...
(Ephesians 6:14-18).
