.Come Let Us Magnify the Lord

words and music by John Hughes

I was inspired to write this song after reading Psalm 34 during a time of personal repentance before the Lord. A few of the lines particularly stood out to me:
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints,
for those who fear him have no lack!  (v8-9)
These words inspired me in that time of returning to the Lord, as a simple reminder of his great faithfulness. We children of the Lord have already seen and known the Lord’s goodness, and tasted of his mercy. Why, then, would we stray from him? Instead, let us come before him to magnify and bless him at all times..

Fear the Lord, you his holy ones, fear the Lord.
For those who fear the Lord, they will lack no perfect thing.
Trust the Lord, you his servants, trust the Lord.
For those who trust the Lord, they will never be ashamed.

Come let us magnify the Lord, let his praise be upon our lips.
Come let us bless him at all times.
For we have tasted and seen.  We have tasted and seen.

Seek the Lord, you his children, seek the Lord.
For those who seek the Lord, they will find him who redeems.
Love the Lord, love and serve him forever more.
For those who love the Lord, they will see him face to face.

Come let us magnify the Lord, let his praise be upon our lips.
Come let us bless him at all times.
For we have tasted and seen.  We have tasted and seen.
