Readings
from Scripture for Day 6
Habakkuk
3:17-19 God, the Lord is my strength
17 Though the fig tree do not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the
fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no
herd in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the
God of my salvation. 19 GOD, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet
like hinds' feet, he makes me tread upon my high places.
Psalms
136:1-4.23-26 His steadfast love endures forever
1 O give thanks to the LORD, for
he is good, for his steadfast love endures for ever.
2 O give thanks to the God of gods,
for his steadfast love endures for ever.
3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
4 to him who alone does great wonders,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
23 It is he who remembered us in
our low estate, for his steadfast love endures for ever;
24 and rescued us from our foes,
for his steadfast love endures for ever;
25 he who gives food to all flesh,
for his steadfast love endures for ever.
26 O give thanks to the God of heaven,
for his steadfast love endures for ever.

John 5:1-6 This is the victory that conquers the world, our faith
1 Every one who believes that Jesus
is the Christ is a child of God, and every one who loves the parent loves
the child. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we
love God and obey his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that
we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 4 For
whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that
overcomes the world, our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world but
he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6 This is he who came by
water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with the water only but with the water
and the blood.
John
15:9-17 No one has greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s
friends
9 As the Father has loved me, so
have I loved you; abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you
will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and
abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may
be in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 "This is my commandment, that
you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no man than
this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends
if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for
the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you
friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known
to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that
you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that
whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. 17 This
I command you, to love one another.
