Readings
from Scripture for Day 5
Malachi
4:5-6 He will turn the hearts of parents to their children and hearts
of children to their parents
5 "Behold, I will send you Eli'jah
the prophet before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes. 6 And
he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of
children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the land with a
curse."
Psalms
133 How good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!
1 Behold, how good and pleasant it
is when brothers dwell in unity!
2 It is like the precious oil upon
the head, running down upon the beard, upon the beard of Aaron, running
down on the collar of his robes!
3 It is like the dew of Hermon,
which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the LORD has commanded
the blessing, life for evermore.
Ephesians
2:14-20 To reconcile both groups to God in one body, putting to death
hostility
14 For he is our peace, who has made
us both one, and has broken down the dividing wall of hostility,
15 by abolishing in his flesh the
law of commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one
new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile
us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby bringing the hostility
to an end. 17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and
peace to those who were near;
18 for through him we both have
access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers
and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members
of the household of God, 20 built upon the foundation of the apostles and
prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone
John
20:19-23 Jesus stood among them and said: Peace be with you!
19 On the evening of that day, the
first day of the week, the doors being shut where the disciples were, for
fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them,
"Peace be with you." 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands
and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus
said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even
so I send you." 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and
said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any,
they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."
